Transform your asphalt and concrete with a perfect finish with rubber mulch

A green solution with a multitude of colours

Tyres are incredibly durable, which is excellent news for where we use them to keep our vehicles on the road, but not so good news when tires become damaged or simply worn out. They are non-biodegradable, so rather than watch them being dumped on landfills across the country, we are choosing products that contribute to their re-use.

Rubber mulch is one example of a product giving tires a new purpose as it reuses recycled tire rubber. Initial material looks not dissimilar to scraps paper shredder would produce. These pieces are colour coated to create six basic tones: dark brown, medium brown, beige, dark green, fresh green and red. These can be used to create monochrome surfaces or mixed to achieve additional tones, so if creating zones and colour-coding areas is something you would like to incorporate within your project, consider rubber mulch as a way of making it happen.

Rubber mulch: what to expect

Rubber mulch is mostly known for being shock absorbent. It is especially popular when creating play areas and recreational areas. Besides, its maintenance requires minimum effort, and it is non-hazardous once the curing process is complete. Being a permeable material adds to the convenience of use as it drains the water away from the surface, preventing large puddles from forming.

Where rubber mulch performs best

Bearing all that in mind, most popular applications of rubber mulch include:

  • Decorative garden elements, for instance, flower beds
  • Play areas and outdoor exercise spaces
  • Ornamental tree rings

Rubber mulch for fast results

If you are eager to see your project completed, it is an exciting product to choose, as its curing process varies between 6 and 24 hours (depending on temperature and weather conditions), and full use of the surface for areas with heavy footfall can be allowed after three days from application.

Consider all aspects

Even though some colour fading may occur in areas exposed to UV light, the advantages of rubber mulch outweigh this little drawback: it is a durable material, easy to apply and giving fast, pleasing results.
